Inside the Preparation
We asked some of the artists what went into preparing for a moment like this, and their answers show exactly why they stood out.Robert Reyes of Sevity shared how intentional their approach was:We rehearsed our set using a timer, made it a priority to play to our strengths. We made a point to choose songs from our setlist that would be crowd-friendly and that judges would love.
Very impressed with how supportive the other bands were, this competition really showed the group what they are capable of doing. We rehearsed for nearly 6 hours in a day to prep for the battle. This battle brought the band closer together.
It was a nice 5-hour trip to make it out to Dumas. We did some research on the other bands to know what to expect. We enjoy playing cover songs and wanted to choose the ones that showcase our sound and got the crowd excited. We are also very thankful to the organization for setting us up in a hotel to stay in.
I enjoyed our time on stage, the band made more connections with each other and had a great vibe moving and dancing to our songs.Doing a shorter set of 25 minutes helped me to prep and focus on my strengths.
More Than a Competition
This weekend wasn’t just about trophies, it was about growth, connection, and momentum.Bands pushed themselves creatively. They learned how to perform under pressure. They built relationships with each other and with the community. And most importantly, they proved that this region is full of serious talent worth watching. We’re incredibly proud of every artist involved.
